Strong germinator
I sowed balansa clover with oats and vetch late September. The balansa was the first to germinate and I had a nice plot of clover seedlings even before the oats began to sprout. Now in late October, I pulled up a few clover seedlings and am impressed that the roots penetrated at least 2 inches in semi-compacted soil in just 5 weeks. In previous years, fall sown balansa showed strong spring growth, roots penetrating 3-6 inches, and the pollinators loved the spring/summer blossoms.

Balance Clover
I like the Balansa Clover, as it is a good product to use in the fall after harvesting in my high tunnel. It helps prevent erosion in my side beds, and is easy one to till under in the spring.

the gala,as clover planted while soil temperatures were warm and there was sufficient rain has been slow to germinate and has germinated by about 50%. It was planted in early October. It is staying very small and not progressing although temperatures stayed warm for autumn until about two weeks ago. the forage diakon radish planted in the same area has been much more successful. both with germination and growth and has required thinning.
