These were great for the cucumber and squash starts. Lettuces and tomatoes not so good. At the end of the season, I found the pots around the lettuces and tomatoes had not broken down at all and seemed to restrict the root growth. I started several flowers using these as well. On the flowers, I peeled the pot away and tossed the pots into my compost. Those flowers did very well. I think I'm going to move back to soil blocks.

How I Start My Garden
Over the years I've discovered that starting vegetables and flowers in 4" peat pots helps boost my spring planting. The seedlings sprout quickly and can be hardened outdoors during the day. They don't need repotting until I actually plant them in the garden. We have a difficult climate for growing--high altitude, low humidity, short growing season, and these peat pots help me get the most out of our growing months.
