Pocket shorties

Hi. I made 3 pairs of these recently. I’m quite an experienced sewist so I questioned some of the instructions but I followed them exactly on my first pair. I would like to present some ideas to consider adding/clarifying to the pattern. 1) immediately after finishing the pockets I suggest they be basted to the shorts front both at the top and at the sides before sewing them at the sides. 2) I also found that it was a lot to manage and extremely thick (French Terry on shorts/slub on waistband) when attaching the waistband. I didn’t have enough fingers to make sure all layers were being sewn together while at the same time stretching elastic to fit. The 3rd pair I made (3-6 months) I used narrower elastic. I trimmed the fabric on the band so that there was maybe a quarter inch of fabric showing. I sewed the elastic to the band. Then I sewed the other side to the shorts. That means I was sewing 2 layers only together. Next I enclosed the elastic between the waistband and pinned the waistband down covering the inside seam as best I could and sewed close to the edge. I finished as you suggested going forward by topstitching in the middle of the band. The way I did it makes for a less bulky section where the waistband is joined to the shorts. The 3rd pair is the blue. It was also a thinner material than the first 2 pairs I made. I love the finish and the pockets really give it a lot id class ❤️❤️❤️ I’ll try to add a picture separately
