I bought this book and 'The Legend of the Ghost Buck' as gifts for a grand nephew who soon will be entering his teens. I had been giving him books by Kevin Lovegreen for a few years, which he liked very much, and I was looking for stories geared toward an older reader. These books are just what I was looking for! The plots, situations and interactions between characters are just a little more sophisticated while still maintaining an excellent story about hunting and/or fishing -- which he really loves! Thank you for filling the sometimes tricky gap of offering good, "clean", interesting reading for kids entering their teens!
