Hard sci-fi
A hard sci-fi film that teases a bigger universe without breaking character for exposition for the audience. It's remarkable how well it looks for it's small budget.

Stunning presentation, limited liftoff. .
As usual, Vinegar Syndrome knocked it out of the park with the presentation, excellent packaging, a gorgeous 4K transfer. As for the movie itself, I thought it was… fine. Not bad by any means, but when a movie is clearly aiming higher than “trash cinema” or “so bad it’s good” territory, I tend to judge it by a different standard. For me, the biggest issue was the characters, I never felt like they were developed enough for me to really care about what happened to them by the end. There’s also quite a bit of technical sci-fi dialogue that felt more like constant reminders that “yes, this is science fiction” rather than world-building that pulled me in. The concept had potential, but the overall story felt a little too simple and never became as interesting as I hoped. I liked the look of the movie though, and everyone plays their characters well. And to whoever was quoted on the back of the 4K saying, “This is what the standalone Star Wars movies should feel like” I honestly couldn’t disagree more. If anything, Prospect felt much closer to Star Trek than Star Wars, just without being nearly as interesting.

Nice picture quality. The sound is a little annoying because they tried to authenticate the sound of people having conversations while wearing a helmet.
