These aluminum plates are the best that I’ve personally used in any keyboard. They feel substantial in hand, and I was blown away by the color - especially the coastal and alien variants!! The best part is that once you remove keycaps, the switches stay in place!! There's nothing better than solid implementation! Assembly Tip: I initially struggled to attach the T10 screws to the plate using the method described in the instructions. I am sure that the instructions work perfectly for the regular plates, but the aluminum plates, I did the following: 1) I started by taking the bare plate and holding it at an angle where I could take one of the tiny countersink screws and thread it through one of the holes. 2) While keeping one finger on the top of the inserted countersink screw on the top of the plate, I fastened one of the round post connectors to the same screw on the bottom of the plate. This can be easily tightened by hand and secured afterwards using any T6 screw on the top of the plate. 3) Repeat for each of the five remaining screws. 4) Once complete, align the plate with their designated holes on the top of the PCB (if you have the silicone dampener) this helps with alignment IMO). 5) While holding the assembly together, turn it upside down so that you’re looking directly at the post holes at the bottom of the PCB. Thread your T10 screws (short) into each post holes. Again, hand tighten to keep them in place and then use a screwdriver to secure them afterwards. 6) Enjoy! I hope that Omnitype can get more of these aluminum plates in soon. I would personally love to see one readily available in every color, but I have no idea how much that would cost in terms of inventory.
