I'm Gonna Git You Sucka

Legitimately hilarious! Classic!

I've been a sucka for movie parodies since I was a tiny elementary school person and discovered MAD magazine, specifically when I was on vacation in Ocean City, MD, reading the novelization of THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE by Paul Gallico because POSEIDON was my fave movie at the time (I saw it 3x in the theater), and wandering into a newstand/gift shop saw MAD #161 (still remember the issue #) with THE POOPSIDE-DOWN ADVENTURE, and fell in love with movie parodies. The fact that such a serious movie (at least to 8 year old me) could be made fun of so irreverently was kinda shocking, and turned my whole sense of humor upside-down. Then came more MADs, Cracked, THE BIG BUS, Mel Brooks movies like HIGH ANXIETY, the Carol Burnett show with Tim Conway's "lucky ham" JAWS parody, etc. etc. I'M GONNA GIT YOU SUCKA belongs in that elite group of pitch-perfect movie parodies (specifically the Blaxploitation genre for SUCKA) that is both loving and scathing, and laugh-out-loud funny from beginning to end; like any great comedy, it gets funnier the more times you watch it. Great cast, great writing, highlight after highlight, I was ready to watch this again the second it was announced as the newest VSU.

One of the year's great home-media surprises!

I'm Gonna Get You Sucka is one of the great comedies of the 1980s - it is to blaxploitation cinema what Airplane was to disaster films, and it's just as hilarious. But I'd never assumed it would get as stunning a 4K debut as Vinegar Syndrome has given it. It looks like a new film, and it makes you realize what a great craftsman Keenan Ivory Wayans was. And the bonus features are wonderful and extensive!

Great to see this get some respect

Haven’t seen this movie in years and it still holds up as really fun and well made. Kudos to VS for such great packaging, too!
