Great little journal, I use it for notes at work. The paper looks and feels a bit different, but the writing is smooth and satisfying. I've used the wood less pencils and Zebra ball point pens just fine, seems like gel pens may be a problem, though, the paper is waterproof. Highly tear resistant. The coworker I gave one to loves it as well.

The paper looks and feels different, the writing is smooth. I had to try to rip a page, it's tougher than regular paper. It doesn't really tear so much as the piece you are holding snaps off. I recommend it.
