UNIQUE SCENT
It opens with a very distinctive, sharp note of black licorice and warm, bready fougassette, backed by a quick kick of pink pepper. As it transitions, it turns into a heavy, creamy white floral heart dominated by rich gardenia and smooth jasmine. The dry-down settles into a warm, cozy base of cacao (cocoa bean) and musk. Similarity: Around 92% close. The unique licorice and white floral harmony is spot-on. The main difference is in the opening; Black Sugar can come across slightly sweeter and heavier on the cacao note in the deep dry-down, whereas the original Caïssa stays a bit more airy and ethereal. A total powerhouse. Because Yom & Layl uses high oil concentrations, this thing clings to the skin. You’ll easily get 8+ hours of longevity, with a very strong, dense scent bubble for the first few hours. If you love the original but find it hard to justify the niche price tag for a licorice-floral scent, Black Sugar is an absolute banger. It feels luxurious, heavy, and handles the tricky, complex notes of the original beautifully without smelling synthetic. Just a tip: spray it 5 to 10 times and let it sit in a dark closet for a week or two. Maceration completely rounds out their blends and locks in that beast-mode sillage.
The fragrance was beautiful and bright Yom & Layl really captured the spirit, volume , and lift and the staff was super accommodating…when I looked in my bad after leaving the stop in the Lyft I noticed the black sugar was missing I emailed Mir but no one has responded or sent me my purchase
