Voiceover/Broadcast Audio Upgrade
This is a serious audio upgrade when you compare it to a similiar modern retail unit that costs $1,500! AND you can target frequencies by changing out capacitors to 'customize' it to your application. This allowed me to attenuate at 120hz and 3khz (3,200 specifically), both of which are grating frequencies n my voice. While also permitting a sleight boost at 90 hz for some heft in the bottom end. In addition to that I added the transformer and op-amp for the 'vintage' sound. A decision had to be made though after soldering the 'jumper' upside down and snipping off the pins that fit the jumpers themselves for switching from the 'vintage' to 'modern' schematics. So, I bent the shorter pins, that were supposed to go into the board, toward each other, for the 'vintage' routing and soldered them together permanently, OLD SCHOOL! With all that said, this EQP5 unit makes my vintage U87i replica mic sound better than I could have ever imagined!! I am going to thoroughly enjoy tracking AND broadcasting with it now.

Great Support
I had some issues getting a signal to pass through the EQ at first, so I reached out to DIYRE support. They were quick to respond and very helpful—it turned out the problem was on my end. The instructions were really detailed and straightforward, and the build itself was a lot of fun. Now that it’s up and running, I’ve done some initial recording with it and it sounds fantastic. I definitely recommend both this product and DIYRE as a solid company.

Beautiful Sound, Fun Straightforward Build
Great sound out of the box. The vintage add-on definitely adds quite a bit of color—not a bad thing in the slightest but can be managed with some careful gain-staging if you want a happy medium between the very transparent IC ‘clean’ mode and full API vintage funk. Very excited to try modding as well and the resources are very helpful there. Using two on my stereo bus and loving the warmth and beautiful high end so far. As for the build, see the rest of the reviews on this site, DIYRE kits are the best
